My research crosses the different epidemiological areas of infectious diseases, with special focus on the study of dengue fever and its dynamics, by developing mathematical models which can be used by public health autho- rities as a tool to predict, understand the transmission of the disease and develop and evaluate the introduction of intervention strategies including vector control and vaccination.

Presently, I hold an EU-research position in the project “Dengue Research Framework for Resisting Epidemics in Europe (DENFREE)”, financed by the European Commission under FP7. As a full time researcher, my work consists of developing and analyzing descriptive and predictive models of dengue epidemiology, using the available data from Thailand, Cambodia, Brazil and Cuba and also based on the interaction with the other project parts and outside collaborators.

I have published more than 20 scientific articles in international applied mathematical journals, and several publications as book chapters and refereed conference proceedings. With a large experience in scientific meetings organization, I have just organized and celebrated the 6rd Workshop “Dynamical Systems Applied to Biology and Natural Sciences (DSABNS)”, with wide national and international participation.
